Daniel Crăciun - Contemporary Hyper/Tensions

Opening Thursday, 10th of February 2011, 19.30
Melenia Art Gallery, Constantin Daniel 3, Bucharest.

Melenia Art Gallery presents works from different cycles of the Romanian artist Daniel Crăciun.

The present exhibition resumes the past issues of internal struggle and “loss of self” set in the current context of the early 21st century and particularly in post-transitional Romanian society when tension has became a second nature.

“Like in other artists’ cases, my contrasting images, sometimes acid and grotesque, also have a redemptional nature. Most of the works in this exhibition reflect states of facts or entities (let them be human beings or other “regnums”) as parts of a negative materiality, in which healing or normality, though necessary seem unachievable.”

Whatever the works’ patterns may be, through vision or statement, they also retrospect to a tension estate, but in that sense of self retrieve.

Duration of the exhibition: 10 February - 15 March 2011
Daily Hours: Tuesday - Friday 13.00 - 19.00 & Sat. 12.00-17.00.
Sunday & Monday closed
